Youth Movement: within the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors organizations are huge parts of both teams. Between both teams, 13 players that are in the rotation, are 25 years old or younger. Washington, is headlined by their promising 2024 draft class of Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George, yet, they are led by 25 year old Jordan Poole, who currently leads the team in points per game (22.2), assists per game (5.4) and steals per game (2.8), 25 year old sniper Corey Kispert, who is averaging 11.4 points per game, and the rapidly improving second year wing, 20 year old Bilal Coulibaly, is second on the team in points per game (19.4), tied for third on the team in rebounds (6.2) and leads the Wizards in field goal percentage (60.7%). Jared Butler, Johnny Davis, Marvin Bagley III, Justin Champagnie, and Patrick Baldwin jr, rounds out the young guns on Washington currently in the rotation.
Golden State young core on the other hand, isn't quite as deep, but they're highly impactful in their own right.
24 year old Trayce Jackson-Davis, 22 year old Jonathan Kuminga, 22 year old Moses Moody and 21 year old Brandin Podziemsky all average between 17 to 30 minutes of action for the Warriors with multiple starts. 6'9 forward Jackson-Davis has started every game and averages 9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists on a ridiculous 80 percent from the field. The high flying Kuminga has had a productive start to the season, posting 13.3 points and 3.8 rebounds on 44 percent from the field, Moody adds 10.7 points per game on a mind blowing 51.2 percent from the field and 51.7 percent from 3-point territory and Podziemski, who has become a reliable combo guard for the Warriors, posting 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
It's clear, yes, the vets will have a say so in who is victorious in this game, but ultimately, this game will come down to which young core elevates their play. Tune in, should be a fun battle.
