Keep an eye on:
Lynx Ball Movement: is something Washington has to disrupt or it will be tough to slow down Minnesota. Minnesota is third in the WNBA in assists, dishing out 20.7 helpers per game. In fact, four players, Crystal Dangerfield, Layshia Clarendon, Napheesa Collier and Aerial Powers, average between 3.9 to 4.3 assists per game. The Lynx share the ball in an efficient manner and it helps make all five players threats. Washington needs to be on a string defensively and doing so without fouling and putting Minnesota on the line for free points.
Get To The Free Throw Line: should be on Washington's mind from the opening tip. One, it'll put Sylvia Fowles at risk of being in foul trouble which would help a lot. Second and most importantly, Washington is one of the best teams in the WNBA in free throw shooting. Its come in handy this season as the Mystics have struggled with shooting the ball from the field (39% FG/ 32% 3FG) for most of the season. The Mystics are second in the league currently in free throw percentage, shooting 84.6 percent this season. Nine players, NINE, are shooting 82 percent from the charity stripe or better, including five players (Leslie, Plaisance, Mitchell, Zellous, Wiese) that are perfect from the free throw so far this season. When Washington gets to the line, they make teams pay by piling up points, they get teams in foul trouble and it helps them control the pace of the game. This should be priority in every game, especially tonight.
