Overall Comparison:

A refreshing prospect to say the least is Vernon Carey Jr. I say that with all of the respect in the world due to Carey not only knowing but embracing what he is.....a bruising, skilled big man. Notice bruising was first. He’s a throwback big man that loves to punish opposing bigs inside, BUT, can step out and attack off the bounce and knock down jumpers from mid and three point range, making him a hard player to slow down. He’s also a very good rebounder, especially offensively, and a sneaky good athlete. Carey reminds me a lot of former Bucks all Star big man Vin Baker.

If he wants it bad enough, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be in the running for all star and all nba nods. He’s that talented. His combination of size, skill, toughness and underrated athleticism doesn’t come around very often. Making sure he’s in tip top shape, while improving defensively on the ball and making plays for his teammates will take him to an elite level in the NBA. With most bigs either being severely limited skill wise, or quite frankly soft by wanting to stay on the perimeter, Carey will have an advantage every night and should be a 20 & 10 dude sooner then later.
