New World Combine Top Performers -
Favour Aire/ 6'10/ 2022/ Bishop McNamara/ C -
Probably the top prospect at the combine and in New World's program. Big man is still a bit raw and awkward, but make no mistake about it, he's a force inside on both ends. He rebounded great, blocked and altered shots, ran the floor well. While he's athletic and mobile enough to get the job done, adding more strength will help him finish through contact from multiple defenders. He struggles at times with that. If he adds some more strength, which will come, don't be shocked to hear about him having 20 & 20 games regularly soon.
Brayon Freeman/ 6'1/ 2021/ Huntington Prep/ PG -
Shifty floor general that loves to push the pace, yet, can execute in the half court and hit jumpers with range. I also loved how he finished consistently through contact inside and got after it defensively. I feel Freeman will have a monster season at Huntington.
Marcelle Gardner/ 6'8/ 2023/ St Andrews/ PF -
Talented sophomore and one who has the potential to be one of the top players in the country if he continues to work. He's a versatile defender, athletic and has a small forward skill set. He's automatic from mid range and can score inside efficiently, making him an ideal big to run pick & roll actions with all over the floor. He's young so you can see he's still trying to figure out EVERYTHING he can do, once he does, it'll get scary.
Johnathon Izemef/ 6'8/ 2021/ National Christian Academy/ PF -
Physical big man that loves to do the dirty work. Izemef knows what he is and focuses on dominating in that way. He doesnt complicate things. He's a strong rebounder, runs the floor like a pit was chasing him and when he gets the ball near the basket, the only option he looks for is to dunk on anyone close to him, teammates included. Want to see him improve a bit with catching the ball. A few times he mishandled lobs and it ended up being a turnover or when guards looked for him inside, the pass went through his hands out of bounds. That's a quick way to not see the ball again and thats if you're still in the game. He's a walking double double.
Jorclay Kaniki/ 6'7/ 2021/ Olympus Prep/ PF -
Bruising, skilled big man who's lethal in the post. He had some quality individual wins against Aire and Izemef. His game kind of reminds me of former Hoya Othella Harrington. Undersized, bulky bigs with skills to go inside and out at times. Player to keep watching grow.
Warren Mouganda/ 6'2/ 2022/ Calvin Coolidge HS/ SG -
Mouganda is a strong, athletic, relentless slasher who can step out and score from outside to keep defenders honest. College ready body already. Man-child of sorts form the guard position. Should make a lot of noise at Coolidge next seasona nd beyond.
Caden Powell/ 6'8/ 2022/ Midway High School (Waco, Texas)/ PF -
Highly skilled big. He can score from all three levels, score with either hand and was fairly athletic. I was impressed by the way he went out on the perimeter with no fear and defended guards on the perimeter willingly. Most bigs are reluctant to do so. He has a chance to be one of the more complete big men in his class down the line.
Tyrell Ward/ 6'6/ 2022/ DeMatha/ SG- Smooth scoring wing was one of the top prospects at the combine overall. Incredible length for a 6'6 guard, it has to be close to a 7 foot wingspan, which helps him be able to shoot over any defender, finish above the rim and be a pest defensively. He's rail thin though and bigger, stronger players do bother him at times. Add strength to his frame and the sky's the limit for Ward.
Miles Webb/ 6'8/ 2022/ Saint Stephens Saint Agnes/ SF -
Monster scoring off the bounce, even at 6'8, he had one of the better handles in the gym. With those handles, and size, he was a match-up nightmare. No one could stay in front of him as he hit defenders with numerous crossovers and moves to score in a variety of ways. Isolation machine. Want to see him put the same energy on the defensive end as well. Thats the next step for him to elevate his overall game.
Chase Williams/ 5'9/ 2022/ Saint Mary's Ryken/ PG -
Despite being small, Williams shined in every aspect of the game you would look for a floor general to shine in. He passed the ball well and made teammates well, was good defensively on ball and from help side, scored inside and from outside efficiently. He was just complete. Looking forward to watching his growth.
Best of the Rest -
Devin Ceaser/ 6'1 PG/ 2022/ St Stephens St Agnes/ -
Elijah Hawkins/ 5'9 PG/ 2021/ DeMatha-
Jaeden Mustaf/ 6'4 PG/ 2024/ DeMatha - Son of former DeMatha, Maryland standout and former Knick, Suns forward Jerrod Mustaf Khani Rooths/ 6'5 SG/ 2024./ Georgetown Prep - Cam Smith / 6'7 SF/ 2021/ Loyola Blakesfield-
