When: Saturday, January 18th, at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Eagle Bank Arena, Fairfax, VA
TV: NBC Sports, Fubo
Keep An Eye on:
The Patriots Defense: is one of the best in the country and THE best in the A-10 conference. George Mason comes in allowing 61.9 points per game, which ranks 13th best in all of college basketball and is tops in the A-10 and has a defensive rating of 92.6, which is 18th in the country and second best in the A-10. Simply put, the Patriots suffocate opponents and make it extremely difficult for opposing teams to make plays. For the nine Patriots players who see significant minutes, Woody Newton, Jalen Haynes, Jared Billups, Giovanni Emejuru, K.D. Johnson, Zach Anderson, Justin Begg, Brayden O'Connor and Darius Maddox, each player has a defensive rating below 100.0. If you love defense, you will enjoy watching George Mason.
Three Point Shooting: could be the x-factor in todays game. George Washington has capable shooters from deep who can change the momentum of a game quickly in the Revolutionaries favor. The marksmen for GW to always pay attention to are sophomore guard Trey Autry (44.3%), Sean Hansen (39.1%), Christian Jones (38.3%), Ty Bevins (36.4%) and especially Gerald Drumgoole Jr (35.0%) who attempts a team high 7.2 three pointers per game. These guys can heat up at any moment and should give the Patriots vaunted defense an interesting test.
