Evaluation:
Seeing Pickett for the first time when he was a standout at Eastern High School (DC) I immediately said to myself that he has "Kevin Durant Symptoms". His size at 6'8, skill set, versatility, scoring and shooting ability just screamed KD. Of course he has a ways to go to become that caliber of player but the fact it's even a thought speaks to the immense potential of Pickett. A unanimous selection to the Big East All Freshman Team last season, Pickett started 28 of 30 games, averaging 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds a game on 35 percent shooting from deep. With a year under his belt playing starters minutes, it's expected for Pickett to become a All- Big East performer this season. He's arguably the most versatile player in the conference, a natural small forward, Pickett can also fit in at shooting guard and at power forward when needed which should be a lot of fun for Hoya head coach Patrick Ewing. If Pickett is more consistent all around especially defensively and as a rebounder, it wouldn't be a shock to see him move up NBA draft boards rapidly.
