Keep an eye on:
Availability of Liz Cambage: Cambage sat out Saturday’s game against the Dream with a concussion and it remains a chance she may miss Sunday’s pivotal game in Washington. That’s a big break for the Mystics. Cambage has been on a terror against Washington this season, averaging 26.5 points and 15.5 rebounds while defensively she’s help hold Elena Delle Donne in check. Again, if Cambage isn’t available it’s a big blow for the Wings who are fighting for their playoff lives. If she is, Washington will look to slow down Cambage by committee.
Feed off Natasha Cloud: While Delle Donne receives the headlines and is more likely first on opponents scouting reports for obvious reasons, the heart and soul of the Mystics is floor general Natasha Cloud. Since Cloud returned from injury on July 31st, Washington has rode a five game win streak, defeating playoff teams Storm, Mercury and Dream among others during this stretch. During Washington’s win streak, Cloud has played outstanding efficient basketball, posting 13.2 points, 5 assist, and 3.2 rebounds on 61 percent shooting from the field, 68 percent shooting from three point range while only committing 1.5 turnovers. Cloud has also made an impact defensively with her versatility and energy. One of the most improved players in the WNBA, Cloud has improved her three point shooting from 23 percent during the 2017 season to 46 percent through this season, which has her tied for fifth best in the league. Her all around play, energy and positive attitude has been contagious for Washington throughout the season and will be pivotal if the Mystics are to be the last team standing come playoff time.
