George Washington (12-9/4-4) led by GS Tyler Cavanaugh's 18 points and 6 rebounds fought their way to a victory over Saint Louis (6-15/2-7) 63-55 in front of a packed Smith Center. In a grind it out game, the Colonials battled back from a 13 point deficit in the first half after seeing the Billikens go 8 for 8 from the field to start the game. GW however was cold from the field, shooting 31 percent from the as they trailed St Louis 29-23 at the half. The Colonials found their rhythm and consistently executed defensively in the second half, as they took the lead off a Jaren Sina three with a little under two minutes left in the game, holding on for victory. Patrick Steeves was huge in the second half, scoring 11 of his 13 points to help pace GW's second half surge while the Colonials held the Billikens to 32 percent shooting.
Saint Louis forward Elliot Welmer led the way with 18 points while guard Davell Roby added 13 points and 5 assist.
GW improved to 12-9 on the season and will next play at Rhode Island on Tuesday at 7pm.
