Harvey's 22 Leads DeMatha To A 88-51 Win Over Good Counsel

Good Counsel junior forward Tyler Baylor looks to finish over DeMatha's 6'11 freshman center Hunter Dickinson

It was clear from the start that DeMatha would look to either impose their will by pounding the ball inside due to their size advantage with 6'9 Josh Carlton and 6'11 Hunter Dickinson or turn senior wing DJ Harvey loose to secure victory. Unfortunately for Good Counsel, both strategies came to fruition. Led by an efficient 22 points from Harvey, DeMatha rolled to a 88-51 win over Good Counsel, improving to 6-0 on the season. Good Counsel fell to 1-6 overall.

The Stags attacked from the opening tip, pounding the ball inside and pressing full court on defense to disrupt the Falcons all night long. DeMatha jumped out to a 18-8 first quarter lead behind a balanced attack led by Notre Dame commit DJ Harvey, and the onslaught was on. The Stags outscored the Falcons 70-43 over the final three quarters to cruise to victory.

Sophomore guard Justin Moore posted 16 points while senior wing John McCrae added 12 points to pace the Stags, while junior forward Tyler Baker and junior guard Deson Flood led the Falcons with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Good Counsel will next host St Mary's Ryken Thursday at 6 p.m while DeMatha will host Bishop McNamara January 3rd at 7:30 p.m.
