Hot LJ Owens Leads Severn To A 73-66 Win Over Annapolis


Severn School stud sophomore LJ Owens finished with a game high 26 points

It wasn't the ideal start for sophomore guard LJ Owens. As Severn held a 29-25 lead at the half over visiting Annapolis, Owens managed only 5 points for the half, Then, it happened. Owens exploded in the third quarter, scoring 18 point of his game high 26 points to put Severn comfortably ahead, on their way to a 73-66 win. It's these type of performances that has Owens being looked at as one of the top players in the area. " In the first half I felt like I was forcing it so in the second (half) I just calmed down and let it come with the flow of the game" - Owens said. Senior guard Keon Butler finished with 17 points (13 in the first half) to pace Severn while senior forward Kevin Dennin added 8 points. Annapolis kept it competitive throughout thanks to ten made 3-pointers, however, Severn connected on 8 of 13free throws in the second half to make sure they would never truly be threatened.

Severn will next take on South River Saturday December 26th at 6pm
