Hoya Great Sugar Rodgers Scores Career High 23 Points In A New York Liberty Win

By Cardell Dudley

The WNBA East leading New York Liberty to most, is a team centered around Tina Charles and Epiphanny Price, with the dynamic duo positioning the Liberty to capture home court advantage throughout the WNBA Playoffs. Although, if you've been paying attention throughout the season, you would know the Liberty bring more to the table than just a Charles and Price show. You will understand that the Liberty are 21-8 due to their depth and balanced attack with six players averaging 5 to 8 points a game to compliment Charles and Price. It's one thing to game plan for a couple players, but for pretty much an entire roster, that will keep opposing coaches up at night. Leading the way of that balanced attack is 3rd year guard out of Georgetown Sugar Rodgers. Rodgers is averaging a career high in points (8.3) and rebounds (2.4) and it appears she is finally finding her niche in the WNBA. It was very evident last night taking on the Atlanta Dream as Rodgers stole the show, torching the Dream with a career high 23 points on 5 of 12 shooting from three along with 4 assist and 3 rebounds. The performance was a flashback to her days as a Hoya where she graduated as the schools all time leader in points. If these performances become regular occurences, the Liberty will have a talented big three to go to war with. Take a look below.
