Team Takeover Falls Short In Peach Jam Semi-Final

Team Takeover guard VJ King finished with a game high 26 points in a losing effort

With around 4 minutes left in the game and holding a 10 point lead, it appeared Takeover was on their way to advancing to play in the ultra competitive Nike EYBL Final thanks in large part to the aggressive VJ King (26 points 18-22 FT) and the hot DJ Harvey (13 points, 6-10FG), although as the saying goes, the game isn't over until the clock hits zero. The Georgia Stars definitely realized this. Georgia Stars guards Trent Forrest and Jared Harper took control on BOTH ends, forcing turnovers and hitting timely shots from the field and stripe to force overtime, even with 2017 top 5 prospect 6'8 forward Wendell Carter having fouled out. Then in overtime, Takeover fell apart, costly turnovers, missed free throws and a technical on head coach Keith Stevens gave the Stars opportunity after opportunity to seize the game, and thats exactly what they did. Harper went 6 for 7 from the free throw line late in overtime to help the Stars finish off Takeover 83-77. It was a hard fought intense game and represented the lure of Peach Jam to the fullest.
