Westlake senior point guard Dominic Espeleta
College Park, MD- In a battle between two of Marylands top 3A programs, Linganore from Frederick County took on Maryland 3A runner up Westlake from Charles County in Maryland State semi-final action. As you would expect, the difference in the game would come down to who's guard play was better, and early on Linganore led by juniors Thomas Lang (14 points/ 4 steals) and Jack Staub (16 points/ 4 rebounds) would set the tone scoring 14 of their teams 21 halftime points. In the second half, Westlake woke up. The Wolverines led by seniors Omar Alston and Dominic Espeleta would step up as seniors should, executing and finishing at will to defeat Linganore 58-43. Dominic Espeleta finished with a game high 18 points and 4 assist while Omar Alston added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Westlake will take on the winner of C.M Wright and Centennial Saturday in the Maryland State 3A Championship.
