Pivotal Point For Finest Magazine

By Dominik Burks

With the sun setting in the District, both teams looked eager to shine coming down the back stretch of the season. Finest Magazine on a mission to win out for the rest of the season started the first half fairly assertive. Behind the leadership of Tre Galloway (Goucher College), who had his euro step and mid-range game working for him, Finest Mag was able to grab a 16-10 lead with six minutes to go in the first half. Throughout the duration of the game play began to intensify and both teams found their way to the free throw line. Back and forth play led to a close game heading into intermission with Finest Magazine up 25-21. With a strong surge in the second half, Basic Sport fought their way back into the game to go ahead by one. Finest Magazine got a solid contribution from Julian Livingston (Goucher College/Bowie State) who finished well at the rim in the second half. With 3:33 left in the ball game, Finest Magazine held a three point lead. In the last five minutes of play, Finest Mag committed turnover after turnover and played lack luster defense, never finding a way to overcome the physical play. Finest Magazine dropped a pivotal game here to Basic Sports 56-42 falling to 1-4 on the season. With an upcoming game on Thursday inside the gates, hope is still alive for Finest Mag.
